What do you need for class?
-
Be able to carry 30lbs comfortably for at least 1/2 mile potentially in intense heat or cold.
Able to be out in the elements for 6 hours and pack appropriately to accommodate your bodies temperature needs for rain or sun.
Be able to swim confidently in moving water.
Be comfortable putting your head in cold water and having saltwater in your eyes.
Be willing to learn and feel very silly while doing it!
-
An 8-9ft foam board is ideal for learning and practicing your wave catching skills.
-
Our water is cold but those wetsuits work well! If you run warm and its a nice summer day a 4/3mm (4mm thick through the legs and torso, 3mm thick through the arms) will work great. If you run cold get a 5/4mm thickness to be toasty. Also grab some gloves and a hood.
-
To keep your hands free for carrying that board down to the beach, pack a backpack to stash your water, lunch, changing towel, extra layers, and keys.
